Agricultural innovation through applied research is a fundamental element for economic growth and improved resilience for smallholder farmers. However, in Indonesia, a considerable gap exists with the private sector on the uptake and commercialisation of research outputs from public research institutes. PRISMA, through its applied research team works to contribute in strengthening Indonesian applied research system to support the rural agriculture sector.

Addressing Applied Research in PRISMA

PRISMA’s aims to strengthen research component of the program activities through better access to available body of knowledge and expertise available at research institutions. The program acknowledges the wider constraints to the uptake of new technologies and the trade-offs smallholders make for adoption of new technologies.

PRISMA also works to support commercialisation and dissemination of agricultural innovation through networking and stakeholder liaison with different research institutes. This is implemented through support to private sector partners in collaborating with research institutes.
