Indonesia is the largest beef producer in Southeast Asia, with annual production reaching 496,302 (Agricultural Statistics, 2018). However, Indonesian beef consumption exceeds domestic production, therefore, the country needs are still dependent on imports. Accordingly, there are many opportunities to develop the local beef market in Indonesia.

PRISMA works with partners to promote access to capital, supply of quality feed and good animal husbandry practices to increase the farmers' productivity and income.

To December 2018, the beef cattle sector has shown a positive contribution to the farmers' welfare improvement and partner' business profits. This sector will continue to be one of the leading sectors in the second phase.
