With 18.98 million tons of coconut production, Indonesia is the largest
coconut producer in the world and shares around 30 percent of world production
(2018). There are opportunities to increase coconut farmers productivity and
PRISMA works with partners to increase farmers'
incomes by encouraging farmers to produce high-quality coconut derivative
products. If in the first phase PRISMA focused on coconut oil, in the second
phase the program works to increase the incomes of coconut sugar farmers through
the promotion of superior coconut varieties and good agricultural practices. Coconut is expected to grow as a more potential sector for PRISMA.
