The introduction of the BNPL option has enabled kiosks to purchase a wider variety of products

Since August 2022, PRISMA has partnered with Semaai, an agri-e-commerce tech company focused on providing agri-inputs to agri-kiosks. As part of its strategy for improving input supply chains and disseminating agricultural information, PRISMA supported Semaai in developing an agri-advisory feature and a strategy to boost the adoption of both agri-advisory services and the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option.

These initiatives provide agri-kiosks with better access to new agri-input products and essential information via the Semaai platform, ultimately benefiting farmers through the kiosks.

To evaluate the impact of these innovations on both kiosks and farmers, PRISMA, in collaboration with Semaai, conducted a mini-impact assessment in June 2024. This assessment focused on the development and effectiveness of digital agri-advisory services and digital financing options (BNPL) for agri-kiosks.

PRISMA surveyed 392 out of 4,470 agri-kiosks using Semaai’s platform. The results of the impact assessment were shared with Semaai in July 2024 and are summarized in the attached PowerPoint document.

Key findings include:

  a. Improved Knowledge and Confidence: By providing accurate Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) information, 94% of kiosks reported increased knowledge, and 76% felt more confident in addressing farmer inquiries related to GAP. Of these, 75% of kiosks shared the information with farmers.

  b. Farmer Impact: As a result, 8,900 farmers became better informed about GAP practices, contributing to increased customer loyalty towards the kiosks.

  c. Impact of BNPL: The introduction of the BNPL option has enabled kiosks to purchase a wider variety of products, further improving their service offerings to farmers.

This collaboration highlights the potential of digital tools to empower agri-kiosks, improve farmer outcomes, and strengthen the agricultural value chain.
